Review
The Bewitching of Aveline Jones went straight in my basket the second I finished The Haunting of Aveline Jones, I just can’t resist a little horror ever now and then!
The Bewitching of Aveline Jones is a spooky and exciting story full of mystery and adventure. Aveline and her mum go on holiday to Norton Wick, hoping for a peaceful break. But when Aveline learns about the strange Witch Stones and their dark history, she can’t help but investigate. She soon makes a new friend, Hazel, but something about her feels odd. As strange things start happening, Aveline wonders if the town’s old stories about witches and sacrifices might actually be true.
The book has a great spooky feel, just like the first one, but it isn’t too scary. It also teaches readers about real stone circles and old witchcraft stories from history, which makes the mystery even more interesting. If you like creepy books that feel like real ghost stories, you will enjoy this one!
While the characters aren’t overly developed (understandable given the shorter length of the book), the bad guy is written so well that you really want them to get what they deserve! The story is full of twists and surprises that keep you guessing. The Bewitching of Aveline Jones is a fun, eerie adventure that’s perfect for anyone who loves mysteries and ghostly tales.

Aveline is thrilled when she discovers that the holiday cottage her mum has rented for the summer is beside a stone circle. Thousands of years old, the local villagers refer to the ancient structure as the Witch Stones, and Aveline cannot wait to learn more about them.
Then Aveline meets Hazel. Impossibly cool, mysterious yet friendly, Aveline soon falls under Hazel's spell. In fact, Hazel is quite unlike anyone Aveline has ever met before, but she can't work out why. Will Aveline discover the truth about Hazel, before it's too late?
