Review
I discovered Earthquake Terror while searching for a story to support our geography topic on earthquakes. The blurb sounded dramatic and full of suspense—just the kind of story to spark interest—and although I couldn’t get enough copies for a class set, it’s definitely going into our class library to enrich learning.
This book is packed with fast-paced action and moments of real tension that will keep readers gripped. Unlike many of my usual reads, there’s no magic or fantasy here—just realistic danger, which in some ways makes the story feel even more frightening.
The characters are written with depth and care. Jonathan shows great responsibility and courage, Abby’s determination is inspiring, and Moose adds a loyal and comforting presence to the story. Each character contributes in their own way as they work together to survive.
As well as being an exciting adventure, this book is full of useful facts about earthquakes—like what causes them, what aftershocks are, and how people might respond during a natural disaster. It’s a great choice to support learning, and an excellent recommendation for anyone who enjoys survival stories with heart and suspense.

When Jonathan and his family go camping on Magpie Island, they look forward to a fun, relaxing weekend. But their fun quickly vanishes when Jonathan, his sister, Abby, and their dog, Moose, find themselves in the middle of a natural disaster. A devastating earthquake has hit, destroying their camper, knocking out the only bridge to the mainland, and leaving Jonathan, Abby, and their dog with no food, water, or shelter. Alone in the woods, can Jonathan manage to keep calm and save Abby and Moose--and stay alive himself?
